Observations about the universe, life, Lausanne and me

my new lens arrived, the scrumptious Canon EFS 55-250 IS.

Yes IS. If the picture to the right is a bit blurry, it is because I shot it my old EFS 18-55 (also a very good lens, but unfortunately no IS).

Go on, look below. Guess what shutter speed I used for the two photos below. Guess.

250mm, f/5.6 1/40s

250mm, f/5.6, 1/8s

0.125 seconds! at a 35mm equivalent of nearly 400mm focal length!

Awesome. I can't wait for the weekend...

  1. bla bla bla new lens bla bla bla...
Do you need a new tea mug?

  2. Indeed, I have broken the mug in an unadvised bout of "I will now tidy up my desk, no matter the cost."

Shortsighted, to be sure, since the cost turned out to be the nice sheep-mug Charlotte gave to me in Canberra. You see, it already had survived a 10000+km voyage, but tidying up...

Anyway, I hope it is nothing a little cyan acrylate can't fix!
