Unwanted insight

The Canon 50mm 1.8 is an excellent lens. Cheap, light, fast, very good image quality. But, and this is important, do not drive over it, or else you will get some unwanted insight into the inner workings of said lens:

    Were you hoping for a hidden cache of diamonds? OK, sure. But did you really expect to find them?

    @Armin: Too late, my new 1.8 just arrived ;) The 1.4 is a bit too expensive for what effectively is only two stops more.

    @Stephanie: You never know where those blasted diamonds are hiding, now do you? And while I did not find any diamonds, I am now in the possession of two high-quality lens elements!
